The Force

The "Force" is an energy shield that every living creature has. The greater number of Midi-Chlorians you have (The Midi-Chlorians are microorganizms which are connected to the Force) The Stronger Force you have. The Jedi and The Sith are the main users of the Force althought that all living creatures use the Force, but they don't know it. With the Force the Jedi can do many things like:

1. Through the Force, the Jedi can sense the presence of other beings and even items.

2. The Jedi can pull and push things with the Force.

3. The Jedi always uses the Force in combat: The Force is giving him the ability to stop blasters with the Lightsaber and return them back to the enemy. The Jedi can do it even with his eyes closed. They are using the Force in a duel of Lightsabers: They using it to react fast in order to dodge the attack of the enemy and perform their own powerful attacks.  

4. They can change someone's mind and thoughts: They can cause him say something that he didn't want to say.                  

5. They can see the future : This ability often comes to the Jedi as a vision.

It seems that the "Force" philosophy was taken from the chinese "Chi" , and the Dark and Light side of the Force are taken from the "Yin Yang".

Dark and Light Side of the Force

The Jedi are using the Light side. The one who is in the Light side wants to live a peaceful life, a life of harmony. The Light side Jedi is caring about everything, and he is always ready to help and protect others. The Jedi loves all that surround him, he is full of courage.The Sith are using the Dark side of the Force. They care only about themselves, they enjoy kill and hurt. They are full of passion and imotions: They use their anger,hate,fear to become more powerful with the Dark side.

There are some phrases that connected with the Force:
"May the Force be with you" The Jedi are using this phrase to "wish luck" to each other before a mission. It means to be strong with the Force. The Sith are believing that the Force is their servant while the Jedi believe that they serve the Force.
The Sith phrase is "May the Force will serve you".
"disturbance in the Force" Obi-Wan said that in Episode 4 when the Death Star destroyed planet Alderaan,and all the creatures on this planet died. It meens that all the Force of the entire planet was vanished.
"The balance in the Force"
It was an ancient prophecy which said that one day, will birth a person from the Force itself, and he will bring the balance to the force (he will destroy the Dark Side completely). This Person will be known as the "Chosen One".
